[It's a Date!]
With tickets to Saltimbanco in our pockets and finally, a free weekend after an extremely busy month — we went on a date!
—–
We headed out in the afternoon…
Just as the skies started to clear…
Dressed in my bright new yellow knit…
And even newer purple sneakers…
(I’m on a mission to add some colours to my closet of blues, greys, whites, blacks and beige)
We went on a stroll through the city…
To our first stop for the day: the Look! exhibit at the State Library
Enjoyed a nice simple dinner…
And then an evening walk by the riverbank…
Towards our final destination…
The Circus!
Saltimbanco by the Cirque de Soleil
Which had me smiling and laughing from the first note to the last bow.
[Without Delay]

Testing, testing.
What else does a HTC Android phone mean, other than toy cameras? – WordPress on the go!
No more delays in getting my toy camera photos to you! No more delays because I still need to transfer photos to my laptop! No more delays caused by the internet! … No more excuses from me…. ?
Now to see how this looks…

(Ed. Well, it ended up as a one plus hour exercise and a lesson in basic HTML…but it finally worked!)
[In a Blur]
Things in life aren’t always clear…
… but that doesn’t make them any less pretty …or important.

It’s been a while since I’ve been overseas.
I’ve been busy exploring and finding my way around Melbourne instead.
But since I never took the time to post the photo I did take while I was away, I’ve made it my next goal to do so!
[Baking Adventures III : Vanilla Yoyos]
Struggling very much with creative/photography inspirations at the moment. It feels as though I’ve been standing under a grey cloud which makes me want to crawl into bed everyday, as soon as I can muster the courage to roll out of it …
So back to the baking adventures – to where it all began…
It started on V-day this year, during my sudden break from work. I wanted – needed – something to take myself away from work, from the TV, from everything else I did everyday and it was as good an occasion as any. (Truth be told, I’d been telling myself that I would spend more time in the kitchen once I moved out for a long time now. A bit of encouragement didn’t hurt though.)
Vanilla Yoyos.
There are more variations of Yoyo recipes online than I had the patience, or experience, to pick from. So I simply settled for the basic Vanilla Yoyo with the most straight-forward-sounding ingredients and instructions.
I will confess however, that despite it being straight-forward, I still got the icing ingredients wrong and ended up presenting him with Yoyos san filling the first time (until he came and expertly fixed it up (how embarrassing…)). The second batch (during which I took these photos) was much more successful – I even managed to get my parents’ tick of approval.
A tad too long in the oven… as always.
And on to the filling:
And finally assembly:
So that was the start.
Some ask why the sudden interest.
But it wasn’t sudden, it was that I’d finally stop giving myself excuses to start another time.
May 2011 – it’s already nearing the middle of the year and I can feel winter creeping up on us among the autumn leaves.
It’s hard to say where the days and months have gone this year – the time cleary hasn’t been invested into this blog. Between frustrating days at work, moping or sleeping in front of the tv and studying baking recipes in the kitchen, I don’t seem to have much more time/energy to do much else, let alone put a few words together to share. It’s definitely been some time since I have put together a proper photo-oriented post. So here’s one!
I mentioned a few posts earlier that I have a new camera toy … my new phone! (disappointed?)
HTC, Android with access to plenty of Toy-Camera photo apps. I’ve been browsing toy cameras online for some time now (something about their effects and the extra ambience it brings to our usual view of the world really catches me), but could never persuade myself of the need to get one – three cameras is really enough.
The apps were therefore perfect – espeically since the photo quality on the phone itself is not fantastic and the slightly grainy results simply added to the overall effect where it got noticeable. Sadly… I didn’t really have the patience to try any more than three apps. And of the two I now use regularly, I’ve pretty much left them on one setting each despite the numerous options available (not that adventurous, am I?)
These photos were taken using the FX Camera app:
And these, using the Vignette Demo app…
I can’t say that I’ve now completely given up on the idea of purchasing a toy camera some time in the future, but for the time-being, I’m plenty busy juggling three cameras and a phone…
As for the photos themselves, both sets of photos were taken at weddings I attended in March this year (Five so far… and still counting…).The first was held at a beautiful winery where we had some time to wander around, after having arrived early for him set up the piano he was going to play during the ceremony. We were both busier at the second one (someone was the best man…) which didn’t leave me much time to experiment with my cameras until we sat down for the reception… (The official photographer took plenty though, including one of us as the ‘last to leave’, hehe).
