[RC's Pregos!]

六月 2, 2009

… was how my manager’s pregnancy was endearingly announced by one of the partners of the firm.

Unfortunately for my manager, her pregnancy (or lack thereof) had been jokingly thrown around the office for so long, we actually requested proof before we offered our heart-felt congratulations (and started piecing together the slight changes in her over the last couple of months).

Some hours later, and I was still suddenly struck by the thought that someone around me, albeit my superior, was going to have a baby….

At age 24, I have been served with everything from engagements, weddings, births and deaths in this past year. All those life-changing milestones.

To the Newly Wed - Congratulations!

To the Newly Wed - Congratulations!

My cousin in Canada is now engaged and has a wedding date set for June next year. A dear high school friend (the first of my close friends) tied the knot not a month ago. Another cousin in HKG is also expecting a tiny bub to arrive in the near future. I also recently received sad news from a friend dealing with a loss in his family.

These events seemed so remote just a year ago. Just like reading the news about the swine flu, the missing Air France jet, the crime and heroics, I could never really imagine them close to home.

And it still seems very distant. For me.

But there is no denying, these events will come, to those around me, close to me and some day – to me.

… better prepare myself…for more news!

It’s scary and exciting at the same time, eh? So far, I still haven’t been to a friend’s wedding, or had any of my high-school friends announce a pregnancy (though at work, everyone seems to be having babies :S). I guess it is of like the mid-twenties equivalent of all your friends getting their drivers license?
